An All-in-One Solution
Do you remember the days when you used to leave the house carrying a wallet, camera, pager, CD, book, notebook, and newspaper?
For many of us, the cell phone has taken the place of all those things. We can get emails, take pictures, write notes, read the latest headlines, play our music, pay for coffee – and of course make calls, all with a tool we keep in our back pocket.
Our data center’s battery management systems could benefit from an upgrade like that. As it is, you have to maintain the batteries using the same old technology, waiting for alarms, scheduling maintenance. We need more control, but less hands-on using the newest technology and techniques.
About the time we were wishing for an all-in-one system for our client’s batteries, Generex introduced us to Battery Analysis and Care System (BACS®).
BACS®
BACS is capable to monitor and manage all aspects around the batteries.
As part of the monitoring process, BACS tracks environmental measurements such as temperature, humidity, acid fill level, hydrogen gas concentration, pressure, air conditioning systems etc. It can even manage or trigger 3rd party sensors.
As part of the balancing process, BACS can calibrate the charging voltage of all batteries to keep them within optimal voltage operating range. This process prevents the unintended overcharging of batteries. By preventing overcharging, BACS helps to avoid gassing, dry-out, and thermal runaway. The balancing process also prevents unintended undercharging, which helps to avoid sulfation and loss of capacity.
As part of the alert process, BACS is capable to manage emergency procedures. BACS can operate as a standalone solution as well as a part of a complex management control service. Core features can keep, store, and provide all necessary information to help emergency response teams to react as fast as possible.
See It In Action
On Tuesday, June 30th, at 2pm, Generex is going to present a webinar on BACS® and Battery Management for Today’s Critical Environments. The Generex team will cover:
- What makes up the battery management system
- Design life vs. service life of batteries
- Why float voltage is so important
Register to join us on Tuesday, June 30th at 2pm, and see if BACS can become your batteries’s new all-in-one system.
